The incident occurred on Sunday morning when the driver, Rishabh Aneja, attempted to overtake other vehicles at high speed on the Mumbai Coastal Road near Worli.
A viral video shows the BMW swerving across lanes before hitting a divider and crashing into side barriers, leaving the car mangled.
No injuries or fatalities were reported, and the driver, a Juhu resident, only suffered minor injuries.
The police have booked Aneja under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act for rash and dangerous driving.
Authorities have been cracking down on overspeeding and illegal racing on the Coastal Road, with plans to install speed-tracking CCTV cameras.
