St. Louis City SC Signs German Defender Timo Baumgartl

The 28-year-old brings extensive European experience to the MLS club with a contract through 2026 and an option for 2027.

Timo Baumgartl, a former Bundesliga and PSV Eindhoven player, has signed with St. Louis City SC as a free agent.
The German center-back joins the team following a challenging stint at Schalke 04, where he played 13 matches before his contract was terminated in August 2024.
Baumgartl has played 213 professional matches and brings leadership qualities and European experience to bolster St. Louis City's defense.
Persistent injuries to Joakim Nilsson and frequent lineup changes in 2024 made the center-back position a key focus for the team's roster rebuild.
The signing follows other significant moves by the club, including the hiring of new head coach Olof Mellberg earlier this week.
