Stardew Valley's latest patch, Update 1.6, introduces a new merchant named Marcello, the bookseller, offering players unique permanent upgrades.
The bookseller's shop, located in the northeastern corner of the map, is accessible only on two random days each season, marked by a hot air balloon icon on the in-game calendar.
Marcello sells a variety of books that grant bonuses such as increased running and galloping speeds, enhanced fishing expertise, and the ability to see the value of items in inventory.
Prices for the books range from a few thousand to as high as 25,000g, encouraging players to accumulate sufficient funds before visiting.
Books can also be acquired through other means in-game, including rewards from activities like chopping trees, fishing treasure chests, and completing specific quests.
