Steam Ends Support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1

Less Than 1% of Users Affected by Decision Due to Reliance on Updated Google Chrome

Steam, the popular gaming platform, has officially ended support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 as of January 1, 2024.
The decision to end support is due to core features of Steam relying on updated versions of Google Chrome, which only function on Windows 10 and above.
Existing Steam Client installations on these operating systems will no longer receive updates of any kind, including security updates.
Less than 1% of Steam's user base is affected by this change, as the majority of users are on Windows 10 or 11.
Users of the affected operating systems are advised to upgrade to a more recent version of Windows to ensure continued operation of Steam and any games or other products purchased through Steam.
