Students Face Sentencing for Cruelty After Mouse Killed During Party

Three engineering students are accused of cruelty and complicity after a mouse was killed in a filmed incident at a student party, with sentencing expected in January.

Lucas B., a 20-year-old student, is accused of killing a pet mouse by chewing it during a student party in September 2023, while heavily intoxicated.
Two other students, Cédric V. and Léo A., are charged with complicity for filming and sharing the video of the incident on social media.
The video, initially shared privately on Instagram, was later circulated widely and brought to attention by animal rights organizations, leading to public outrage.
The prosecutor has requested sentences of up to 105 hours of community service for the three students, citing the cruelty of the act and the role of peer encouragement.
The court's decision, following demands for damages from 13 animal rights groups, is scheduled to be announced on January 10, 2025.
