Studio Babelsberg Renames Historic Building to Honor Wes Anderson

The newly named 'Wes Anderson Building (and Trickatelier)' celebrates the filmmaker's creative impact and collaboration with the iconic studio.

Studio Babelsberg officially renamed its historic House 5 building to 'Wes Anderson Building (and Trickatelier)' in a ceremony attended by Wes Anderson on March 26, 2025.
The building, which houses the historically significant Trickatelier, played a pivotal role in pioneering visual effects, including techniques developed by Eugen Schüfftan.
This renaming recognizes Anderson's creative contributions and his longstanding collaboration with Studio Babelsberg on five films, including his upcoming spy thriller, 'The Phoenician Scheme.'
Studio Babelsberg CEO Jörg Bachmaier described the gesture as a tribute to Anderson’s trust, creative spirit, and influence on global cinema.
Founded in 1912, Studio Babelsberg is the world’s oldest large-scale film studio and has been part of the US-based Cinespace Group since 2022.
