Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke to Return in 4K IMAX Restoration

Princess Mononoke, one of Studio Ghibli's most acclaimed films, is being re-released in 4K with IMAX screenings in the US and Canada starting March 26, 2025.
The restoration was directly overseen by Studio Ghibli animator Atsushi Okui, who has contributed to major Ghibli projects since 1993.
The re-release celebrates Studio Ghibli's 40th anniversary and features both the original Japanese and English-dubbed versions at select showtimes.
Concerns have been raised by fans about the potential use of AI in the restoration process, as Hayao Miyazaki has publicly opposed AI in animation.
Princess Mononoke remains a cultural landmark, holding a 93% Rotten Tomatoes score and ranking as one of Japan's highest-grossing films of all time.
