Sumo wrestlers get extra flight after being denied boarding due to weight

Sumo wrestlers were turned away from two flights to Amami Oshima island due to exceeding weight limits.
Japan Airlines arranged an extra flight to accommodate the over 460 wrestlers traveling for a competition.
Each wrestler weighed around 265 pounds, far exceeding the average passenger weight.
The wrestlers were initially denied boarding as their weight could imbalance the aircraft.
The extra flight allowed the wrestlers to reach the island for the scheduled competition on October 16, 2023.
