Supreme Court Judges Visit Manipur to Support Relief and Reconciliation Efforts

A delegation of five Supreme Court judges, led by Justice B.R. Gavai, began a three-day visit to Manipur to monitor relief efforts for communities affected by ethnic violence.
The judges inaugurated legal aid clinics, medical camps, and distributed relief materials to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Churachandpur and other districts.
Justice Gavai, addressing IDPs, highlighted the importance of restoring peace and normalcy, urging communities to work together for a brighter future.
The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), chaired by Justice Gavai, allocated an additional ₹2.5 crore for relief efforts, supplementing earlier contributions.
The visit has been welcomed as a 'healing touch,' though criticism persists over the central government's delayed response to the crisis and the absence of high-level political visits.
