Tapbots, known for its popular Mastodon client Ivory, is developing a new app called Phoenix for the Bluesky social network, set to launch in summer 2025.
Phoenix will initially enter a limited public alpha phase before its full release, with a design expected to mirror the user-friendly features of Ivory.
Tapbots has clarified that while development on Ivory will temporarily slow, the company remains committed to supporting both Mastodon and Bluesky long-term.
The decision to create separate apps for Mastodon and Bluesky reflects Tapbots' belief that dedicated platforms provide a better user experience than combined solutions.
Phoenix is likely to adopt a subscription-based monetization model similar to Ivory, which offers free access with premium features available for a monthly or annual fee.
