Tech Industry Layoffs Continue with Salesforce Cutting 700 Jobs

Microsoft's Gaming Division Also Plans to Cut 1,900 Staff Amid Widespread Job Losses in the Sector

Salesforce is laying off about 700 employees, or roughly 1% of its global workforce, adding to the tech industry's ongoing layoffs.
The layoffs are part of a trend that saw more than 20,000 tech workers lose their jobs in January 2024.
Other tech giants, including Microsoft, Google, and Amazon, have also announced layoffs this month.
Microsoft's Gaming division is planning to cut 1,900 staff members, just three months after its $69 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard.
Despite the layoffs, Salesforce is reportedly still hiring for 1,000 open roles across the company.
