Teenager Faces Murder Trial Over Fatal Park Assault on Elderly Dog Walker

Bhim Kohli, 80, died from injuries sustained in a violent attack allegedly carried out by a 15-year-old boy while a 13-year-old girl filmed and encouraged the act.

Bhim Kohli, an 80-year-old pensioner, was attacked in Franklin Park, Braunstone Town, near Leicester, while walking his dog on September 1, 2024.
Prosecutors allege the 15-year-old boy assaulted Mr. Kohli with a shoe while wearing a balaclava, causing fatal injuries, including fractured ribs and spinal cord damage.
A 13-year-old girl is accused of encouraging the violence and filming the incident while laughing; both minors deny the charges against them.
The boy allegedly racially abused Mr. Kohli during the attack and later fabricated claims that the victim had threatened the girl with a knife, a claim prosecutors say is false.
The trial, expected to last six to eight weeks, is examining evidence including CCTV footage, witness testimonies, and messages sent by the accused boy after the incident.
