Over 60 people attended a school board meeting to protest the decision, many waving rainbow flags and wearing t-shirts that read 'I stand with Max.'
The school board voted unanimously to reinstate the original cast and script after a closed session discussion.
The school board issued an apology to the students, parents, and community for the circumstances they had to go through.
