The Last of Us Tops Most Pirated TV Shows of 2023

Disney+ and Apple+ Dominate Piracy List, Netflix Absent Amid Larger Subscriber Base

The Last of Us, an HBO series, was the most pirated TV show of 2023, followed by The Mandalorian and Loki, both from Disney+.
Disney+ had four of the 10 most pirated shows in 2023, while Apple+ had three.
Netflix did not feature in the top 10 most pirated shows, possibly due to its larger subscriber base compared to other streaming platforms.
Piracy is expected to cost streaming services billions of dollars in lost revenue, with a predicted rise in piracy rates from 22% in 2022 to 24.5% by 2027.
Despite the piracy issue, Netflix had more than 247 million paying subscribers as of Q3 in 2023, leading Prime Video by 20%, while Disney Plus and HBO Max combined had 232 million subscribers.
