Thief Convicted of Murdering Amazon Delivery Driver in Leeds

Mark Ross was found guilty of murder after deliberately crashing a stolen van, killing Claudiu Carol-Kondor, who was clinging to the vehicle.

  • Claudiu Carol-Kondor, a 42-year-old Amazon delivery driver, was killed on August 20, 2024, while attempting to stop his van from being stolen in Leeds.
  • Mark Ross, a career criminal, drove at nearly 60mph on residential streets, swerving and deliberately crashing into parked cars to dislodge Carol-Kondor, who was clinging to the van's passenger door.
  • Carol-Kondor suffered fatal head and chest injuries after Ross deliberately crashed into a second parked car, according to evidence presented in Leeds Crown Court.
  • Ross claimed he was unaware of Carol-Kondor's presence on the van, but the jury rejected his defense and convicted him of murder by a 10-to-1 majority.
  • Ross, who admitted to being a daily cannabis user and having a history of vehicle theft, is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday.
