Thousands of Indians Trapped in Cambodia in Online Scam Ordeal

The Indian government collaborates with Cambodia to rescue victims and crack down on cyber fraud operations.

At least 5,000 Indians are reportedly held against their will in Cambodia, forced to conduct online scams targeting people in India.
The Indian government and the Cambodian authorities are collaborating to rescue and repatriate the victims, with around 250 Indians rescued so far.
Victims were lured with job offers, then coerced into illegal cyber activities, including creating fake profiles for scams.
The scam operations have generated approximately Rs 500 crore over the past six months.
Indian police have arrested several individuals involved in recruiting for these scams, and are working with Interpol to apprehend key operatives.
