Three Labourers Die in Delhi Tent Fire Triggered by Gas Cylinder Explosion

The fire broke out early Tuesday morning in a makeshift shelter in Anand Vihar, leaving three dead and one injured.

  • The fire occurred at approximately 2:00 AM in a temporary shelter near Anand Vihar in Delhi, housing four labourers employed by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL).
  • Three men, identified as Jaggi (30), Shyam Singh (40), and Kanta Prasad (37), all from Uttar Pradesh, died due to asphyxiation and burns.
  • One survivor, Nitin, managed to escape after the fire intensified, but the others were trapped when attempts to unlock the tent's door failed.
  • The fire was reportedly caused by a diesel-powered lamp used for lighting, which ignited a gas cylinder, leading to an explosion.
  • Authorities have launched an investigation to confirm the exact cause of the fire, with the bodies sent for autopsy and statements from witnesses recorded.
