Three Migrants Killed, Seventeen Injured in Oaxaca Highway Accident

The victims, including a child, were struck by a vehicle while walking in pre-dawn darkness to avoid daytime heat.

Two of the deceased were from Nicaragua, including a father and his 8-year-old daughter.
A woman from Ecuador was also killed in the accident.
The incident occurred near Juchitan, a common route for migrants heading to the U.S. border.
Police patrols sometimes accompany migrant groups, but it is unclear why this group was unprotected.
The driver of the vehicle has been detained and may face vehicular manslaughter charges.
