Top U.S. Long Jumper Loses National Title After Positive Marijuana Test

Tara Davis-Woodhall, a U.S. Olympic long jumper, received a one-month suspension and had her national indoor title stripped after testing positive for marijuana earlier this year.
Davis-Woodhall accepted a one-month period of ineligibility that began on March 21.
Her ban was restricted to the minimum allowable period under the rules because the use of cannabis occurred out of competition and was unrelated to performance.
The 23-year-old athlete finished sixth at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
THC, the psychoactive compound found in marijuana, is a special category of banned substance that allows for a three-month sanction if an athlete can establish their use of the substance occurred out of competition and was unrelated to sport performance.
