Traffic Safety Concerns in Germany Highlighted by Two Serious Incidents

A pedestrian was critically injured in Nördlingen, while a wildlife collision on the B5 led to legal action against an unlicensed driver.

A 39-year-old woman was seriously injured after being hit by a car at a zebra crossing in Nördlingen on March 29, 2025.
The accident occurred when a 67-year-old driver swerved to avoid a braking motorcycle and struck the pedestrian and her husband, who sustained minor injuries.
The injured woman was airlifted to a hospital, and the incident caused approximately 2,000 euros in property damage.
In a separate incident on the same day, a 37-year-old driver collided with a deer on the B5 highway, killing the animal and rendering the car inoperable.
A police investigation revealed that the driver in the wildlife collision lacked a valid license, resulting in the initiation of criminal proceedings.
