Chauncey Billups, head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, will be absent for two games following the passing of his grandmother.
Assistant coach Nate Bjorkgren will lead the team in their home games against the Utah Jazz on Thursday and the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.
The Trail Blazers currently hold a 9-20 record, having lost eight of their last nine games, including the previous two.
Billups, 48, is in his fourth season as the team's head coach, with an overall coaching record of 90-185.
A five-time NBA All-Star and 17-season player, Billups was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in October 2024.
