Trial Date Set for Suspects in 2018 Vermont Murder-for-Hire Case
Two men accused of orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot that resulted in the death of a Vermont man will face trial in September.
- Serhat Gumrukcu and Berk Eratay, charged with wire fraud in connection to a murder-for-hire plot, will stand trial on September 23.
- The plot led to the 2018 abduction and killing of Gregory Davis, 49, of Danville, Vermont.
- Jerry Banks, who admitted to abducting and killing Davis, changed his plea to guilty last year.
- The murder plot began over a fraudulent oil deal that Davis threatened to report to the FBI.
- A fourth person, Aren Lee Ethridge, has pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.
