Trinamool Leader Survives Assassination Attempt After Gun Malfunctions

Sushanta Ghosh, a Trinamool Congress councillor, was targeted in front of his home in Kolkata's Kasba area by two assailants on a scooter.
The shooter attempted to fire twice, but the gun malfunctioned, allowing Ghosh to chase and apprehend the attacker with the help of locals.
The shooter, identified as Yuvraj Singh, was caught and confessed on camera to being hired for the attack, but claimed he was not paid.
Police arrested the prime accused, Iqbal alias Afroz Khan, who allegedly planned the attack and provided the weapon, from East Burdwan.
Authorities suspect local rivalries as the motive and are investigating further to identify those behind the assassination plot.
