True North to Transform Winnipeg's Portage Place into Multi-Use Development

The $650-million project will include affordable housing, a healthcare center, and community spaces, revitalizing downtown Winnipeg.

True North Real Estate Development has reached an agreement to purchase Portage Place and its underlying land and parking.
The development will feature a 15-storey residential tower with 40% of its 200 units rented at affordable rates.
A 265,000-square-foot healthcare center will be a cornerstone of the project, with the Manitoba government as the main tenant.
The federal government is contributing $10 million towards community and public spaces, with an additional $17 million expected from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp.
The project, in partnership with the Southern Chiefs Organization, aims to provide employment and educational opportunities, particularly for Indigenous communities.
