Overview

  • Passengers who unbuckle, stand or access overhead bins before the aircraft fully stops risk fines of roughly $67 to $70 under the aviation authority’s directive.
  • The rules took effect in early May and apply to all commercial flights in Turkey in response to a surge in complaints about premature aisle crowding.
  • Airlines must include explicit warnings about potential penalties in landing announcements and submit Disruptive Passenger Reports for violations.
  • Turkish Airlines has already updated its in-flight landing advisory to inform travelers that noncompliance will be reported for administrative action.
  • No fines have been imposed so far as authorities monitor compliance following the rollout of the new regulations.
