Two Men Convicted of Kidnapping, Carjacking FBI Employee

- Two men, Deyvin Morales and Juan Alvarez-Soto, have been found guilty of kidnapping, carjacking, and other charges related to the 2022 kidnapping of an FBI employee.
- The incident occurred during a drug trafficking trip from Colorado to South Dakota. The men, along with a third suspect, Karla Lopez-Gutierrez, were nearly out of gas when they decided to 'take over' a new vehicle.
- The FBI employee was forced to go along with the suspects after they took his vehicle at gunpoint. He was able to escape when the group stopped to buy gas and zip ties in Hermosa, South Dakota.
- Morales and Alvarez-Soto were arrested a week later in Greeley, Colorado. Lopez-Gutierrez was arrested in August 2022 and pleaded guilty.
- Both men face sentencing on April 12 and could get up to life in prison. Alvarez-Soto, who is from El Salvador, was also found guilty of unlawfully entering the U.S. after being deported.
