UK Nationals Trapped in Gaza Amid Conflict, Accuse Britain of Inadequate Support

British Nationals Separated from Families as Egyptian Officials Deny Exit from Gaza due to Absence from Approved List; Professionals Call on UK Government to Intervene for Their Safe Return

  • Abdalrahman Alharazin, a UK national and interpreter from London, was prevented from leaving Gaza along with his pregnant wife and three children despite their names being on an approved list for crossing into Egypt. He waited at the Rafah border crossing for almost three days but was unable to cross.
  • Dr. Ahmed Sabra, a UK national and doctor from Swansea, faced a similar predicament to Mr. Alharazin, as he too was at the Rafah border crossing but was not allowed to leave Gaza with his wife and three children.
  • The UK government has been accused of not providing enough assistance to its citizens trapped in Gaza. Some of these individuals have been separated from their families due to their names not being included on the approved list of foreign nationals allowed to leave.
  • More than 150 UK nationals have been able to leave Gaza and enter Egypt through the Rafah crossing since its reopening. However, several British nationals are still trapped within the conflict-ridden territory.
  • Professionals and colleagues of those trapped in Gaza are calling on the UK government to intervene for their safe return, highlighting the severe trauma and danger these individuals are facing.
