UMass Dartmouth Track Star Found Dead in Suspected Suicide

Flordan 'Flo' Bazile, holder of the school's 100-meter dash record, was last seen on campus before his body was discovered in the Acushnet River.

Flordan 'Flo' Bazile, a 21-year-old University of Massachusetts Dartmouth track star, was found dead in the Acushnet River on Tuesday night, suspected to have committed suicide.
Bazile was last seen on Monday around 2:00 a.m. at the university's main campus at Pine Dale Hall dormitories.
Bazile held the school record for the 100-meter dash and was recently named the 2024 Little East Conference Track Athlete and Track Rookie Athlete of the Week.
University officials and coaches remembered Bazile as 'hard-working, energetic, a champion, and a great friend.'
Counseling services and pastoral counseling have been made available for students and staff at the university.
