Overview

  • The ₹22,864 crore project spans 166.80 km, with 144.80 km in Meghalaya and 22 km in Assam, and will be executed under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM).
  • The expressway will reduce travel time between Mawlyngkhung (near Shillong) and Panchgram (near Silchar) from 8.5 hours to 5 hours, enhancing connectivity across the region.
  • The corridor features advanced infrastructure, including 34 viaducts, 19 major bridges, and 153 minor bridges, to support efficient freight and passenger movement.
  • It is projected to generate 74 lakh direct and 93 lakh indirect man-days of employment, while handling an estimated 19,000–20,000 passenger car units daily by FY 2025.
  • Aligned with the PM Gati Shakti framework, the project aims to enhance regional economic growth, reduce congestion on NH-06, and integrate with key transport routes and industrial hubs.
