United Auto Workers Union Advocates for Permanent Cease-Fire in Israel-Hamas Conflict
The UAW, the largest labor union to do so, joins other labor organizations in calling for an end to the conflict that has claimed over 14,500 lives.
- The United Auto Workers (UAW) union has become the largest labor organization to call for a permanent cease-fire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
- The call was announced by UAW Region 9A Director Brandon Mancilla during a protest outside the White House.
- The International Executive Board of UAW plans to form a working group to study the history of the region and their union's economic ties to the conflict.
- Other labor organizations, including the United Electrical Radio and Machine Workers of America (UE), the Coalition of Labor Union Women (CLUW), and the American Postal Workers Union (APWU), have also supported a cease-fire.
- The conflict, now nearly two months old, has resulted in the deaths of more than 13,300 Palestinians, including over 4,600 children, as well as about 1,200 Israelis.
