UPS reaches deal with Teamsters to install air conditioning in delivery vehicles beginning in 2024

UPS and union leaders have reached a tentative agreement to equip delivery vehicles with air conditioning and other heat protections.
UPS will retrofit existing trucks with fans and install air conditioning in new trucks purchased after January 1, 2024.
The agreement comes after years of reports of dangerous working conditions including hospitalizations from heat exposure.
The deal is part of ongoing contract negotiations between UPS and the Teamsters union representing 330,000 workers.
While the agreement reduces the chance of an imminent strike, negotiations are still ongoing for a new five-year contract before July 31.
