U.S. Commits $3 Billion to Green Climate Fund at COP28

Vice President Kamala Harris announced a $3 billion pledge to the Green Climate Fund at the U.N. climate summit in Dubai.
The fund is dedicated to supporting climate action in developing countries and the pledge is in addition to another $2 billion previously delivered by the U.S.
The funding comes amid a divided Congress, with Republicans vocal about wanting to cut spending and fight President Biden’s agenda.
Part of the pledge includes $449 million for new programs such as Global Girls Creating Change, aimed at providing professional opportunities in the sustainable economy for girls and young women in 29 different countries.
The pledge is subject to fund availability.
