The policy applies to immigration, customs, airport, and port authority officials who fail to enforce laws or implement practices that prevent unauthorized migration.
The visa bans are authorized under Section 212(a)(3)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which allows restrictions on individuals posing potential foreign policy risks.
This measure complements the existing 3C policy expanded in 2024, which targets private sector actors profiting from transportation services for migrants traveling to the U.S.
The restrictions will remain in place until affected officials take steps to enforce existing laws and implement policies to curb illegal migration.
