US sanctions Sinaloa cartel leaders over fentanyl trafficking

  • The Sinaloa cartel is the primary source of fentanyl trafficked into the US, according to the DEA.
  • Fentanyl has caused an estimated 71,000 overdose deaths in the US in 2021.
