The controversy began when CindySnacks co-owner, Jonathan Stengel, noticed a donut with decorations strikingly similar to Dunkin's, raising concerns about allergens for their dairy-sensitive customers.
After conducting a home gluten test, the donut tested positive for gluten, leading CindySnacks to sever ties with The Savory Fig and sparking a state investigation.
The Savory Fig owner, Michelle Siriani, denies the allegations, claiming the donut in question did not come from her bakery.
The incident has caused uproar within the vegan community, with CindySnacks apologizing to customers and considering legal action against The Savory Fig.
