Veteran Odia Actor Uttam Mohanty Passes Away at 66

The celebrated actor, known for his prolific career in Odia cinema, succumbed to liver-related complications after weeks of treatment.

Uttam Mohanty died on February 27, 2025, at a private hospital in Gurugram due to complications from liver cirrhosis.
He was initially hospitalized in Bhubaneswar on February 5 and was later airlifted to Gurugram for advanced treatment on February 8.
Mohanty starred in over 130 Odia films, alongside roles in Bengali cinema and India's first Hindi feature film on HIV/AIDS, 'Naya Zaher'.
The Odisha government announced that his last rites will be conducted with full state honors, and his body will be kept for public homage in Bhubaneswar before cremation.
Fans and leaders, including Odisha’s Chief Minister, mourned his passing, highlighting his legacy as a versatile actor and a pillar of Odia cinema.
