VTA Employee Arrested for Fatal Shooting of Coworker Over Gambling Debt

The suspect, Duc Minh Bui, was taken into custody following the Friday night incident at the Chaboya Division Yard in San Jose.

The shooting occurred around 9:40 p.m. on Friday in the parking lot of the VTA Chaboya Division Yard.
The victim, identified as Regulus Teotico, was a 45-year-old VTA bus driver and father of two.
Authorities believe the motive was related to a gambling debt between the suspect and the victim.
Duc Minh Bui, 33, was arrested at his San Jose home on Sunday and is suspected of first-degree murder.
The incident has prompted VTA to offer mental health services to employees and increase security at its facilities.
