White House nominates Air Force general Allvin as next chief, confirmation on hold

President Biden nominated Gen. David Allvin as next Air Force chief of staff.
Allvin is a career air mobility pilot with experience in Afghanistan and Europe.
He has commanded NATO air operations in Afghanistan and led air strategy in Europe.
Allvin would replace Gen. Brown, tapped to be next Chairman of Joint Chiefs.
