Woman Attacked and Kidnapped in Broad Daylight in East Oakland

Police are seeking public assistance to identify both the victim and suspect involved in a violent kidnapping near a middle school.

  • A woman was attacked and forcibly kidnapped on 98th Avenue in East Oakland around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, near Elmhurst United Middle School.
  • The suspect attempted to hit the woman with a car before exiting the vehicle, punching her multiple times, and forcing her into the stolen car while she screamed for help.
  • The victim is described as a Black woman in her early 20s, approximately 5'5" tall, with black and blue braids or dreadlocks, wearing a light-colored hoodie and jeans.
  • The suspect is described as a Black man in his early 20s, also about 5'5" tall, with a thin build, short twisted hair, and a distinctive scar or mark on his left cheek.
  • The stolen car used in the kidnapping has been recovered, but both the victim and the suspect remain unidentified and at large. Police urge anyone with information to contact them.
