Woman Murdered by Ex-Boyfriend Shortly After Reporting His Stalking to Police

Police Department Launches Internal Investigation, Officer on Leave Following Incident

Fridelène Daniel, 34, was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend, Robens Cesar, 41, less than an hour after she reported his alleged stalking to the Boynton Beach Police Department.
Daniel had told the police that Cesar had followed her to the station, and upon returning home, she was confronted by Cesar in the parking lot of her apartment building.
Cesar confessed to the killing, stating that Daniel's decision to report him to the police was 'the final straw'. He was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
The Boynton Beach Police Department has launched an internal investigation into the incident to ensure all actions taken were in accordance with established policies and procedures. The officer who took Daniel’s report has been placed on leave.
Daniel leaves behind a 16-year-old daughter. Her family reported that she was on the phone with a relative in Haiti when she was shot, and the relative heard her ask Cesar if he had brought a gun to kill her.
