Woman Punches Black Bear Attacking Dog, Suffers Bite Wound as Bear Flees

A 64-year-old woman in Maine punched a black bear in the face to protect her dog from being chased, suffering puncture wounds to her hand and wrist.
The woman called 911 and was taken to the hospital for treatment, while wildlife officials set traps to try and capture the bear, which fled into the woods.
Dog owners are being warned not to get between their pets and bears, as bear attacks on humans are rare but can be dangerous.
