Woman Sentenced to Life for Murdering Parents and Living with Their Bodies

Virginia McCullough was sentenced to life imprisonment for killing her parents and concealing their bodies for four years in their Essex home.

Virginia McCullough poisoned her father and fatally stabbed her mother in June 2019, living with their bodies until her arrest in 2023.
She constructed a 'homemade mausoleum' for her father and hid her mother's body in a wardrobe, continuing to reside in the family home.
McCullough engaged in extensive deceit, telling family and authorities her parents were unwell or traveling to cover up their murders.
During the four years following the murders, she spent her parents' pensions and accrued debts in their names, totaling nearly £150,000.
Her actions were uncovered after a GP raised concerns, leading to a police investigation and her eventual confession to the crimes.
