X Removes NFT Profile Picture Feature

Paid subscribers can no longer use NFTs as profile pictures, following similar moves by other social media platforms.

Twitter, now known as X, has removed the feature allowing paid subscribers to use NFTs as their profile pictures.
The feature, launched in 2022, was seen as a validation of NFTs and allowed users to display their digital assets in a unique hexagonal shape.
Despite the removal, users who had an NFT set as their profile picture still have hexagonal avatars, and it's unclear if these will be removed.
The move follows similar decisions by other social media platforms, including Meta, which wound down its NFT experiments in 2023.
The removal of the feature comes amidst other significant events on the platform, including a security breach of the SEC's official Twitter account.
