Yayoi Kusama's Largest-Ever Exhibition Opens at Melbourne's NGV

The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) in Melbourne presents the largest-ever Yayoi Kusama exhibition, running from December 15, 2024, to April 21, 2025.
The show includes 180 works spanning Kusama's eight-decade career, from early paintings to her iconic Infinity Rooms and pumpkin sculptures.
A new Infinity Room, titled 'My Heart is Filled to the Brim with Sparkling Light,' debuts, alongside other immersive installations like 'The Spirits of the Pumpkins Descended into the Heavens.'
Rarely seen early works highlight Kusama's artistic evolution, including pieces from the 1950s and her experimental performances and sculptures from the 1960s.
Kusama's art reflects her lifelong battles with mental health, using repetition, polka dots, and vibrant colors to explore themes of infinity, obliteration, and personal healing.
