ZDF Begins Filming Biopic on Drag Queen Olivia Jones

The ZDF production focuses on the life of Oliver Knöbel, better known as Olivia Jones, one of Germany's most prominent drag queens.
Filming began on March 11, 2025, in Hamburg and surrounding areas, with production expected to conclude by April 14.
Johannes Hegemann stars as Oliver Knöbel, while Annette Frier plays his initially unsupportive mother, Evelin.
The biopic explores Knöbel's struggles with societal rejection in his hometown of Springe and his eventual rise to fame in Hamburg's St. Pauli district.
The screenplay, written by David Ungureit, is adapted from Olivia Jones' 2021 autobiography, 'Ungeschminkt,' and directed by Till Endemann.
