Melvin Whitfield Carter III is an American politician who is the mayor of Saint Paul, Minnesota. Elected to his first term in 2017 and reelected in 2021, Carter is the 55th mayor of St. Paul and its first African American mayor. His current term of office ends on January 1, 2026.
